Performing OffSite clone with Zerto

Hi all,

Today we are going to discuss about how to perform offsite clone with the help of Zerto Replication.

Before proceeding with OffSite clone, why we need to perform this, I would like to conclude it’s totally depend on customer requirement.

Sometimes customers want a clone copy from prod environment to test environment, sometimes customers want to take set of application servers form one site to another site for load balancing or specific reason.. we will try how we can clone a VM from one site to another site with help of Zerto Virtual Replication.

If you are new to Zerto Replication, Please go through old posts on Zerto Replication.

Previous posts on Zerto,

  1. Disaster Recovery with Zerto
  2. Install Zerto ZVM 5.0 for vSphere Environment
  3. Install Zerto Virtual Replication Appliance VRA on VMware ESXi
  4. Configure Zerto Virtual Protection Groups VPG
  5. Create new Repository for Zerto Backup

  8. How to Perform a FAILOVER with Zerto
  9. Add checkpoint with a Tag in Zerto

Currently I am in my Production ZVM web console, Verify the VPG meeting SLA.

Click on More option from right corner and Select OffSite clone option.

Once the offsite clone window opens, you should select one check point.

In my previous post we discussed about check points.

As you can see here, we have many check points, as I said before Zerto can keep up to 30 days of check points. So you can select any checkpoint according to your requirements.

Select and click OK to continue:-

Select any one of the datastore in recovery site from the drop-down menu.

Click on Clone option to start cloning..

Verify the VM clone progress in the activity tab.

As you can see below screenshot, the Cloning completed to my DR site successfully.

For performing this Zerto OffSite Cloning option, you should have a Zerto enabled environment in your target site.

Zerto is giving you more privilege for selecting target site, you can use Hyper-V, Azure, AWS and Zerto enabled Cloud provides as your target site.

We will discuss more on Zerto in upcoming posts.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post. Feel free to share this to others if it is worth sharing!!!
